Goal Setting
The usage recommendations are a great place to start with goals, but you may decide to support your class and individual students in establishing goals tailored to their needs. Once goals are established, students can track their own data as they work toward them. Doing so is a great way to motivate students, especially when celebrating along the way as they reach milestones.
It's also helpful to work as a class; it allows every student to contribute to the goal and be a part of the celebration, without needing to compare students in a competitive way. The total numbers are available in the educator experience, in the Reports tab. Select Usage and look for the “All Students” number.
Consider tracking a few of the following metrics individually or as a class, as you work toward a greater goal:
- Puzzles Collected - Every 250 puzzles solved individually or 2,500 as a class
- Objectives Completed - Every 5 Objectives completed individually or 50 as a class
- Progress % (Journey or Puzzle Goal) - Every 10% milestone
Data Trackers
Students are much more engaged and motivated when they are involved in monitoring their data. We have several resources ready to go for you! |
Objective and Quiz Trackers
Students grades 2 and up take quizzes at the beginning and end of each objective. Integrating a Quiz Tracker can help build accountability and remind students to try their best on these assessments. For students in younger grades they can track their progress through their ST Math Objectives by marking the when they begin and end each one. Learn more about viewing student quiz data. |
Reflective Practices
Use Journals Pages to reflect on learning. Productive struggle is an important part of ST Math and having students think about areas of challenge, how they were able to overcome their challenges, and how they were able to persevere, allow them, and you, to see patterns in their learning. It is also an opportunity to celebrate perseverance. We don’t want to celebrate only when students realize easy success, but also when they work through difficulties and persevere. |
