There are many reasons for moving from one method of account provisioning to another in ST Math. Districts that are considering a transition should consider the following factors:
- The transition process can take up to two weeks, longer if moving to a SAML setup. Students cannot use ST Math from when the transition starts until the transition setup is complete, so it is important that the process begin with enough time to be completed during a time that students access is not critical. Because of this, ST Math recommends that transitions take place at the end the summer, two to three weeks prior to the new school year start. Completion is contingent upon the district sharing new school year data for summer transitions.
- Teachers and students may need information/training on new sign in procedures.
- If new accounts are created for students in the new roster type, historical data should be available for students if the old and new accounts can be matched on student ID. If that is not the case, historical data will not be available in the new account. Because visual (picture password) accounts have no student ID associated with them, when moving to a different roster type, accounts cannot be matched so visual accounts are deactivated and no progress/historical data is available in the new account.
For more information about the various types of rostering available for ST Math, see the help article comparing roster types. After the decision is made regarding transitioning to a different provisioning type, an Implementation Manager will assist with creating a plan to ensure a successful transition for all users. To find out more about transitioning to a different roster type, email at transition_request@mindresearch.org and an implementation manager will be in touch.
