What is ST Math Summer Immersion?
ST Math® Summer Immersion is a comprehensive blended learning curriculum designed for elementary students in grades K–5 for current ST Math customers. ST Math® Summer Immersion concentrates on developing students’ math content knowledge, reasoning skills, communication, agency, and growth mindset.
This program is structured for:
- 25 days of instruction
- Ideally suited for 90-minute instructional blocks
Consists of:
- 5 modules, with each module containing detailed lesson plans for 5 days/sessions of instruction
ST Math Summer Immersion:
- Designed to be flexible
- Structured approach aims to provide a rich and engaging learning experience for students during the summer months
- Helps students build strong schema around mathematics and develop perseverance, confidence, and agency as they engage in the lessons and activities
Can ST Math Summer Immersion be customized?
Yes. Summer Immersion is designed for 90-minute sessions, 5 days a week for 5 weeks, but it can be customized to fit different summer program schedules.
Program Length (4–6 weeks)
- 4 weeks: Skip Module 4 of the lessons.
- 6 weeks: Use the final week for table games, activity pages, and ST Math 1:1 puzzle play.
Weekly Schedule (4–5 days per week)
- The lesson plans are structured to easily accommodate either a 4-day or 5-day summer school schedule.
Session Length (60–120 minutes)
- 60 minutes: Do the Problem of the Day during small-group instruction.
- 90 minutes: Implement the program as written.
Is there Professional Learning available for ST Math Summer Immersion?
Yes. ST Math® Summer Immersion requires teacher training. Two professional learning options are available.
Professional Learning Options
- Two 90-minute virtual workshops (maximum of 60 participants)
- One 4-hour onsite workshop (maximum of 30 participants)
During the training, teachers will:
- See the curriculum in action
- Learn the instructional framework
- Understand their role in facilitating learning
- Plan how to deliver the content
- Learn strategies to promote:
- Math content development
- Schema building
- Perseverance
- Growth mindset
- Student agency
- Self-reflection
What content does ST Math Immersion cover?
The curriculum focuses on math concepts that are historically challenging for students. ST Math® Summer Immersion includes a grade-by-grade scope and sequence that provides additional detail about the content.
Content Focus by Grade Band
- Grades K–2: Operations and algebraic thinking
- Grades 3–5: Fractions
