Congratulations on the math growth your students have achieved, problem-solving their way into 2021 with JiJi! The powerful visual models in ST Math provide a great opportunity to make important classroom connections while deepening student thinking around math concepts. How about some resources to incorporate ST Math into your lessons?
Bonus: Participate in February’s Feel the Love campaign to encourage students to add 10 more minutes of daily ST Math practice. Time on ST Math is time spent learning!
Effective Teaching Practice & ST Math: Use and connect mathematical representations. Using and connecting representations leads students to deeper understanding. ST Math's visual to symbolic approach helps you introduce, discuss, and connect these different representations to support students in explaining their thinking.

JiJi is visiting Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, USAThe Carlsbad Caverns are famous for the thousands of bats that leave each evening and return every morning. In fact, it was by following the bats that the caves were first discovered over 100 years ago. If you visit in the morning, you can watch them dive from thousands of feet in the air and then flap their wings to reach their roosts in the cave. Parts of the caves were explored using balloons. Scientists tied balloons to a camera so it would float up to the hard to reach sections. They even named one of the rooms they discovered the “Balloon Ballroom.” |
